LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Toronto #Review

Ontario Attractions

Ontario Attractions

With 2 LEGO crazed children in our house, one of their top attractions to visit is LEGOLAND Discovery Centre at Vaughan Mills.  I must admit that as a past, present and future LEGO lover myself, I love going too!  In a world all about LEGO, how could you not have a fun time?!

photo-7

There are so many different areas to visit at LEGOLAND but I think one of the best areas is the Miniland!  In Miniland you will find some of the best landmarks in Toronto built out of LEGO.  As the room changes from day to night, you can see buildings like the CN Tower, Banks, drive-in at Polson Pier, Toronto Airport and of course the Rogers Centre and ACC. Oh and don’t forget to visit Niagara Falls while you’re there too.

IMG_6840 photo 2-5 photo-3
IMG_6869 photo 3-4 IMG_6839

How Ninja are you?  Well now’s your time to find out at the Ninjago Laser Training Camp!  Test your reflex speed as you compete against your friends at the flashing light wall.  See who can hit the most flashing lights before time runs out.  aTest your agility and speed as you avoid laser beams to make it through the laser maze.  Can you make it through in Ninja fast speed without touching any beams? Don’t worry if you are nervous about being successful, there are different levels of difficulty.  My son loved this area and did the laser maze quite a few times in an effort to beat his past record and stay ahead of his sister’s score.
photo 5-1

We even went to school when were at LEGOLAND and it was fun…true fact!  Be sure to join a Master Builder Academy when you are there to do your own LEGO build and kern tips, tricks and facts about LEGO from the Master themselves.

photo 2-6 photo 1-6 photo 4-5

The 4D Cinema is one of my kids’s favourite areas.  With your 3D glasses on you can watch short LEGO films that the kids just love. There are 4 different films that rotate throughout the course of the day so be sure to watch the ticker to let you know what’s up next.  Watch one or all four and you are sure to be in for some cool surprises.

photo-8  photo 2-8

Make your own race car out of LEGO and race it down the ramps in LEGO Racers Build & Test area to see if you can beat the rest of the little competitors.

photo 3-7 IMG_6843 photo 4-8

Once you’ve done all of the above there is still so much more to do.  Take a ride on Merlins Apprentice, try and be the top scorer on Kingdom Quest Laser Ride, climb around in the LEGO Fire Academy, test out his stable your LEGO creation is against the Earthquake table and visit the LEGO Friends area.

Year after year we purchase season’s passes to Canada’s Wonderland!  Why?   Because we find that the value of family fun from getting them is so worth it!  This year is no different.  Each year, Canada’s Wonderland adds new attractions, changes up the shows and keeps the “old favourites” maintained so we can continue to enjoy them.

Wonder Mountain's Guardian

This year the kids were excited to try out the new Wonder Mountain’s Guardian.  If you head there as soon as the park opens, the line to get on shouldn’t be too bad.  We waited about 30 minutes but the time seemed to fly by because while you wait you can read up on facts about the ride and try out some trivia.  Being the competitive family we are, we could have stayed in the line-up area for hours!

Although our anticipation to try out this new ride was at an all time high, we didn’t ask anyone we knew about it as we wanted it to be a surprise.  3D glasses on and we were ready to goooo….

During the ride you are taken into the caverns of the mountain where your gaming skills and competitive side are put to the challenge when you  try to shoot bats,  spiders, crabs and sea monsters in the quest to have the highest score.  In the end, the ultimate battle takes place in the dragon’s lair where you take on the dragon Ormaar.  Will you be victorious or have to escape?  Will you be the top scorer in your cart?  Good luck and oh by the way you will love the final surprise at the end!  😉

My kids gave Wonder Mountain’s Guardian 2 thumbs up with a rating of AWESOME!

Ontario Attractions - Canadas Wonderland

We love Wonderland because it is great for people of all ages as they have different areas of the park designated to different age groups.

Planet Snoopy & Kidzville are geared to the younger ones with smaller versions of some of the bigger rides like the swinging boat, swings, roller coasters, carousel and spinning barrels.  The kids can even meet up with the beloved Peanuts characters for a meet and greet and picture.

The rest of the park is filled with all different variations of coasters, spinning rides, stomach droppers and unique rides that are sure to suit all the thrill seekers in your family.

As our kids grow taller, I am so excited to get to try new rides with them each year.  It’s like a new adventure with each new season!

You can’t miss the shows at Wonderland.  From the High divers and trampoline acrobatics to the musical invasion and cirque experience, you will be dazzled!  We look forward to the shows every year and have always been highly entertained.

Be sure to cool off in Splash Works at some point during your visit.  This 20-acre waterpark has lots of water slides, splash pads, a lazy river, wave pool and more to keep you cool while you’re having fun.

All this fun making you hungry?

Canada’s Wonderland has a good selection of food to choose from but if you are being budget conscience you are always welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy on the grounds outside the admission gates.  To accommodate this, in and out privileges are happily granted with just a stamp on your hand before you exit.

Oh and one of my biggest moments of excitement so far this year was discovering that there is now a full service Tim Horton’s onsite!!!

Drive-ins in Ontario

Who doesn’t love going to the drive-in?  You can wear your jammies if you choose, pack some snacks and relax in the comfort of your own vehicle!!  Lucky for us, Ontario has quite a few drive-ins for us to enjoy.

I remember the fun of going to the drive-in as a child and nowI am able to share the same fun with my kids.  We back the diaper wagon into a spot and make a “nest” of pillows and blankets and then all snuggle in for the movie.  For the most part the kids fall asleep after the first movie and then hubby and I can enjoy the second one while the kiddies snore beside us.  This is one night where you can’t worry about bedtimes as the movies tend to start fairly late the nicer the weather gets, but the memories created will be so fun and worth the possible crankiness in the morning!! The best part of this family night out is that it is really a cheap night out.  Check your local drive-in as many have carload nights and kids are generally pretty inexpensive to get in.  Don’t forget to pack some lawn chairs, bug spray and some money for snacks!

Now, let’s all go to the snack bar…
