Apple Blosson Tyme Festival – A fun and friendly community festival in the village of Colborne that happens on the last weekend in May each year. In the village, there is a collection of local vendors and food to sample along with vintage cars and tractors on display, a soap box derby race, a midway, baking contests, a competitive and fun spelling bee, and lots of other contests and activities.

Bike Rodeo @ Milton Sports Centre –  The participants will learn the rules of the road and bicycle handling as well as have their bike checked out by knowledgeable bike enthusiasts and have minor adjustments done on site at no charge. World Fish Migration Day @ Toronto Zoo – Visit the America’s Pavilion and learn about the Toronto Zoo’s important Atlantic salmon rear and release program involvement with local schools! Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the fascinating life travels of the native American eel. Join the Toronto’s Zoo Great Lakes Outreach Program, which is a FREE, curriculum-based education program that encourages students, educators and families to “Keep our Great Lakes Great” while learning about five local fish species at risk!

CCFEW Spring Bird Festival @ Humber Arboretum – Enjoy a morning of guided bird walks, live birds, reptiles and amphibians, backyard habitat building, art workshops, children’s activities, and educational displays. The festival is located at the southern end of the park. Bird walks are hourly, beginning at 9am. They will be running the children’s activities booth at this great event but it is ideal for everyone. Young, old experinced or inexperienced. Earth Day

April 22nd was Earth Day so many towns across Ontario are sponsoring local clean up activities over the weekend.  Check your local newspaper or town’s website to see what you can do right in your town to clean up!

Teaching your kids to live eco-friendly on a day to day basis can be done by simply recycling your garbage at home, picking up trash at the park, making litter-less lunches for school or thinking of ways to conserve water and energy.

If you’re stuck for some ideas, check out Earth Day Canada for some great ways to go green.  Eco-Kids also has a great site to find games, activities  books and other ways to help our planet.

Waterfront Clean-up Day (April 26th) – Friends, family, and neighbours are encouraged to come out and clean up Barrie’s waterfront area. Volunteers can register at the Lions Pavilion, located at Centennial Park, between 9:30am and 10am. Supplies and beverages will be provided by Tim Horton’s. TORONTO, ON – January 7/13 – Feld Motor Sports® has announced that the Maple Leaf Monster Jam Tour kicks into high gear January 18-19/14 at Rogers Centre in Toronto. Tickets are on sale now.

Monster Jam is the most exciting form of family motorsports entertainment on the planet. The stars of the show are the biggest performers on four wheels: the Monster Jam trucks!  Approximately 12-ft. tall and about 12-ft. wide, Monster Jam trucks are custom-designed machines that sit atop 66-inch tall tires and weigh a minimum of 10,000 pounds. Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, Monster Jam trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Monster Jam trucks can fly up to 125 to 130 feet (a distance greater than 14 cars side by side) and up to 35 feet in the air.

Fan-favourite trucks slated to appear at the arena will be led by Canada’s very own dedicated Monster Jam truck Northern Nightmare driven by Cam McQueen, the Monster Jam 2012 World FinalsSM Freestyle Champion. Northern Nightmare will compete against 15 trucks including Grave Digger®, El Toro Loco,  Son Uva Digger, MM Rottweiler, Mega Bite, Avenger, Wrecking Crew,  Max D®, Wrecking Crew, Aftershock, Krazy Train, MM Dalmatian and Iron Warrior.  Trucks are subject to change without notice.

Monster Jam® shows run Saturday, January 18 at 7pm and Sunday, January 19 at 2pm at Rogers Centre. Ticket prices start at $23 for adults and $15 for Pizza Pizza kids tickets for children 12 and under. Pit Party Passes are available for purchase for $10. Tickets and Pit Passes are available at the Rogers Centre Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.ca, and at (855) 985-5000. There are a limited number of TAP ($133) and Gold Circle ($55) seats available for both shows. Additional fees may apply.

The Pit Party will be held from 3pm to 5pm on Saturday, January 18 and 10:30am to noon on Sunday, January 19th. The pre-show pit party gives fans the chance to see the massive Monster Jam trucks up close, meet drivers, take pictures and get autographs. To access the Pit Party, event ticket and Pit Party Pass must be presented upon entry.
