Drive-ins in Ontario

There are some great family movies in theatres right now so why not take the family for a night out at a local drive-in?!   You can also check out what’s playing onSaturday morning at Cineplex theatres for their Family Favourites.  At 11:00am you can watch a movie for only $2.99!


Ontario Farmer’s Markets are still going strong and are bringing you the best and freshest produce around.  Support the Farmers of Ontario by shopping at your local farmer’s market this weekend!


Barrie Fair – It’s that time of year again! This year the Barrie fair will be filled with many things to see and do, including a variety of livestock & home craft shows, vendors, truck & tractor pulls, demolition derbies, live entertainment, and the ever-popular midway. Not to mention over $100,000 in prize money! The Barrie Fair has always aimed to bring together families from across Ontario, and this year is no exception!

Blue Mountain 

Funkengruven – Get ready for some FUNK as we shake up the Village during this high energy, musical weekend with head-liner Andria Simone! Featuring interactive drumming, groove dancing and hula hooping!


BARK in the park – BARK in the PARK Bowmanville is a family friendly event where family dogs are the focus. Celebrate our four-legged companions with two days of contests, demos, races, agility course, swag bags, splash pools, interactive games, photo ops, food, toys, giveaways, shopping, and more.


BikeFest – For motorcycle riders, the day begins with the escorted Ride for Big Brothers Big Sisters leaving from Erieau at 9am. It ends in Tecumseh Park where the festivities begin. BikeFest includes a Motorcycle Showcase and a Bike Build Competition. It also features vendors in the park, bands, a beer garden and much more. We are grateful for the support of our SPONSORS who make it possible for this event to be FREE to the general public. You’re not going to want to miss it!


Ribfest – Rain or shine this event provides delicious ribs, first class musical entertainment, a kids area and specialized children’s entertainment, classic cars, a bavarian tent, marketplace and of course delicious, mouth watering RIBS!


Harvest Celebration Days @ Lang Pioneer Village – Come celebrate the harvest season at Lang Pioneer Village Museum! Learn about the importance of the harvest season and discover the foods, tools, equipment and more used by the early settlers as they celebrated and reaped the harvest and prepared for winter in the country.


Blues Festival – The Limestone City Blues Festival will once again bring Downtown Kingston alive with the sounds of the blues August 27, 28, 29 & 30, 2015

Niagara Falls

Fireworks over the Falls – Canada’s longest-running fireworks series is underway with fireworks every Friday, Sunday, and holiday until September 1, preceded by the popular Coca Cola Concert Series on the Victoria Park Stage. The best views are in Queen Victoria Park overlooking Niagara Falls.

Busker Festival – Second Annual Niagara Falls Buskerfest This is a free, all ages, community event showcasing more than 50 performances from world class performers from around the globe, artisan and food vendors and much, much more, in support of arts programming for children and youth.


Capital Fair – The Fair offers a Friday night and Saturday Western Horse Barrel Race competition and a full Gymkhana Western style show on our final Sunday.   The Urbandale Corporation Kids Zone features a Petting Zoo, Pony Rides, our Bird of Prey show, the Reptile Rainforest, our Kommunity Stage, the Travelin’ Farmer and DooDoo and his Dance Party and more


Watermelon Fest – The Straffordville Community hosts the annual Watermelon Fest at the Straffordville Community Park, 56169 Heritage Line.  A parade at 10:00am kicks off the day. A pancake breakfast at the fire hall, watermelon seed-spitting contest, midway rides, silent auction, food and craft vendors, music and entertainment, free face painting & children’s activities make for an affordable family outing enjoyed by young and old. Corn Festival – This weekend long event will feature live entertainment, a classic car show, parade, corn eating, tossing and peeling contests and more!



The Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival – From paddling events, kayak sprint events to Arts & Culture Routes Vendors, kayak celebration is in the air and you cannot miss it in Timmins, Ontario. And even if you are not into kayaking competition, there is still something for everyone. Here are some of the highlights you can expect from one of the best and popular kayak competitions in Canada and Ontario in particular.


Buskerfest – Scotiabank BuskerFest in support of EPILEPSY Toronto will have you beyond entertained with magicians, acrobats, circus acts, kid zone, aerialists, music, clowns and so much more!

Mabuhay Philippines Festival – The Mabuhay Philippines Festival is the largest celebration of Philippine heritage and culture in the GTA. It features colourful parades, all-day entertainment, Filipino food and more.


Sun Life Financial Waterloo Busker Carnival – Celebrating its 26th year, the Bucker Carnival is bringing back busker favourites who performed in past carnivals. Enjoy a weekend full of busker street performers, Buskerama Camp Kids, fireworks and family fun!


Peach Festival – We have something for everyone!  Arts & Crafts, Commercial Exhibits, Peach of a Car Show, Midway rides and games, FREE Entertainment, Souvenirs, more food than you can eat in a week, never mind a weekend!

Another Summer weekend means lots of great fun in the sun activities planned across Ontario.  You can attend a waterfront festival, go to an event all about celebrating your furry friends, attend an old fashioned fair, celebrate peaches or attend any other of the great events listed across Ontario.  Whatever your plans, have FUN! Of course there’s always the option to visit a local attraction like an amusement parkwater park or zoo.  Whatever you do, have fun making family memories!

Around Town this Weekend…


Potato Festival – It all gets kicked off with a parade and then the weekend will be filled with bingo, Pine Block Car Race for Kids, Wild, Wild West Show, the Dog Agility Show, the Magical Duda, Creature Quest, Scottish Dancers, the Lawn Tractor Races, and the Zoba Balls just to mention a few. Together with these special events there is the midway all weekend long.


Puppets UP! International Puppet Festival – A great day or weekend out for anyone who loves the opportunity to take in original theatre, enjoy the delights offered by a beautiful and historic town like Almonte, and the pleasures of an outdoor festival experience.  Providing great entertainment for families with children of all ages, many of the festival’s shows and street entertainers are designed for the very young, while others will keep older kids and adults fully engaged.


Woofa-Roo Pet Fest – Woofa~Roo is a fun filled festival for pets and their people featuring live acts including, Dock Diving, Howling Contests, Musical Entertainment, Charity Events and much more! You’ll even have an opportunity to have your photo taken with Zeus, the World’s Tallest Dog!  Specialty vendors, artisans and professionals will be present to showcase various pet & people goods and information.


Ribfest – Three days of warm weather and sunshine in August for Brantford Kinsmen Annual Ribfest also known as Brantford’s Own Annual Ribfest held at Cockshutt Park in Brantford, Ontario. An astonishing amount of mouth watering ribs, chicken and beer to be consumed over the weekend while enjoying live entertainment and a midway for the kiddies


Ribfest – If the smell of the ribs isn’t already calling your name, come out and enjoy the live music, rib eating contest, vendor village, kid zone, petting zoo and free pony rides.


Campbellford Fair – A real country fair with a midway, children’s activity centre, petting zoo, novelty games, contests, demolition derby, livestock shows and more.


Summerfest – This little jewel of a festival caters to all age groups and tastes including an all-day music line-up introducing northern bands and talent, right on the lake.  There are activities for both children and adults with bouncies, slides and rock-climbing. Let’s not forget, a kettle bell competition, a horseshoe tournament and canoe and portage events. And then there’s the food!


Steampunk Festival – The main street of Coldwater and the Coldwater Canadiana Museum will host fifty vendors, reptile shows, falconry, horse drawn wagon rides, sand art, Steampunk weaponry shows, costume contests, art exhibits, jousting knights, mad scientists, whimsical inventors, dancers, musicians, artisans, crafting, puppetry, children’s creative activities & events!


Drayton Fair – Enjoy some good old family fun at the fair including; midway, tractor & truck pull, livestock shows, magic shows and a demolition derby!

Fenelon Falls

Fenelon Fair – Celebrating their 125th year, the Fenelon Falls Fair will have a midway, demolition derby, truck & tractor pull, food, live entertainment and more.


Scottish Festival & Highland Games – Whether you are coming by yourself or with the entire clan there’s something for everyone, you don’t even have to be Scottish! Celtic Music, crafts for the kids, heavy events championships, bagpipes, drums, author appearances, bands, Highland dancing, story telling, singing, clan information and heritage, beer tents and vendors galore! Celtic Roots Festival – The Goderich Celtic Roots Festival is an annual celebration of the music, craft, and culture of the Celtic nations, immigrants of which form a strong historic background to Huron County.


Teddy Bear Picnic – If you go down to the woods today…children will enjoy old-fashioned games, a teddy bear parade and a teddy bear hospital. Don’t forget to bring your own teddy bear to join in on the fun!


Folk Festival – A 3 day, outdoor, all ages, family friendly music festival at Lakeside Park in Kingsville, ON, featuring award-winning national and international performers


Blues Festival – This free festival includes multiple stages throughout the downtown core. In addition a kick off concert will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 in Victoria Park followed by a weekend of fun and entertainment for the whole family!


Muskoka Model Train Show – Fun for the whole family, this annual show includes: Operating Layouts, Modeling Clinics, Historical Displays, Swap Tables, Train Vendors & Manufacturers, Souvenirs & Door Prizes and Barbeque


Navan Fair – Since 1945 The Navan Fair has been the favorite weekend of the summer for thousands of local residents that come to enjoy the hospitality of the people of Navan and the incredible entertainment, exhibits, shows, demolition derby, kid zone, food and more!

Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival – As always there is a stellar line-up including renowned international and Grammy nominated artists.  This FREE event showcases seventeen bands on five stages throughout the streets of Downtown Oakville. Savour delicious food at our many restaurants and patios surrounded by live entertainment while enjoying Downtown Oakville’s unique boutiques, galleries and friendly service.


Orillia Waterfront Festival – Fun for all ages! Our Waterfront Festival features an in-water boat show with space for 250 boats, and includes new, dealer trade and select brokerage models. Over 100 land vendors and exhibitors offer everything from boating accessories and water sport equipment to cottage and outdoor products to great summer fashions! Exciting Water Ski Shows throughout the weekend, and hilarious Cardboard Boat Race Sunday at Noon! Port of Orillia & waterfront parks, Lake Couchiching


Garlic Festival – Perth Garlic Festival is a celebration to the ‘stinking rose’. The warm August air of Ontario’s prettiest town is scented with the pungent aroma of garlic while thousands of ‘garlic heads’ revel in the many attributes of this wonderful herb.  Bring the entire family as there will be cooking demos, face painting, Birds of Prey Show, live music and lots and lots of garlic!!


International Powerboat Show – This is an all-ages three (3) day outdoor festival with over 35,000 people in attendance. The festival’s main attraction is the free professional powerboat race on the St. Clair River, Sunday afternoon. There is plenty of daytime programming geared to the whole family which includes boat parades, powerboat time trials, boat displays, wakeboard competitions, meet and greet with drivers, inflatable childrens’ play area, local bands, street performers, local business’, artist kiosks and an interactive tall ships.

Sauble Beach

Sandfest – Sandfest is Sauble Beach’s annual summer party! Join us for an incredible weekend of family fun, including live music, sandcastle building, a classic car show featuring over 450 vehicles, vintage motorcycles, Sauble’s Got Talent and so much more.

St. Catherines

Dog Days of Summer – Don’t miss this great event celebrating our four-legged friends! There will be activities, vendors, food, and more to keep you entertained all afternoon including: a doggie play zone, photo studio, entertainment and contests.


Sutton Fair & Horse Show – It’s the 160th year for the Sutton Fair and Horse Show and it is going to be fun for the whole family!  This year’s theme is the Year of the Tractor.  Come out for some midway fun, food, entertainment, atv challenge, tractor pull derby, animals and much more.


Taste of the Danforth – GreekTown Taste of the Danforth sponsored by Pilaros is one of Toronto’s signature events, showcasing the best of Hellenic food, culture, and music our multicultural city has to offer – from souvlaki to mezes, authentic Greek music to interactive children’s games! Jerk Festival – Jerk Food Festival 2015 is celebrating its 14th anniversary and you are invited! Cattail Festival – This festival has something for everyone.  The weekend will be filled with Musical Entertainment – Live Shows, Performers & Exhibitions, Great Food – Marketplace and Family Fun & Activities.


Summer Streetfest – The Ultimate Annual 4-Day Street Festival in Downtown Woodstock! During the festival Dundas Street will be closed to vehicular traffic and the streets will open to musicians, street performers, outdoor cafes, arts and crafts, BBQs, shopping, inflatables and much more!  Bring a chair, and enjoy the live music in Museum Square!
