London

International Food Fest – London International Food Festival is the host to an array of savoury dishes from around the globe. Partake in games, food and fun in this annual London, Ontario event.

Lucknow

Strawberry Summerfest – Events include a Kid Zone, music and entertainment, movie night and Show n’ Shine. There will also be a soccer tournament, baseball tournament, Sunday church service at the Community Centre and breakfast served at the Legion.

Peterborough Musicfest – Peterborough Musicfest is a non-profit charitable organization that presents concerts every Wednesday and Saturday at 8:00pm on the shores of beautiful Little Lake in Del Crary Park, downtown Peterborough. Highland Games – A Cultural Family Festival Celebrating everything Scottish and Celtic. 25 Professional Pipe and Drum Bands will be competing for points and prize money to be able to compete at the World Pipe and Drum Competition in Scotland. At least 200 Highland Dancers will be competing under the Ontario Highland Dance Association. A Heavy Events competition will be held on the beach. 19th Annual Father’s Day Smoke & Steam Show – Enjoy the largest show of its kind in the Kawarthas! Local collectors bring to life some of the oldest antique tractors and steam engines around. See fully operational, unique, working examples of the earliest gas and “hit and miss” engines as well as Lang’s own 1921 Sawyer Massey Steam Engine.  There will also be music, demonstrations, a parade, and fun things for the kids!  Sunday, June 21 is also National Aboriginal Day. Duffins Creek Family Fun Day – A Trout Unlimited Canada event that showcases the biology and aquatic residents of Duffins Creek as well as the Duffins Creek Renewal Program. This free event sees families circulate through stations such as: Fabulous Fish; Amazing Aquatic Bugs; Fishy Escapades; and Beautiful Duffins Creek.  The day is a fun outdoor event and will provide opportunities to learn more about Duffins Creek while teaching others about this amazing watershed.

Chamber Street Festival – The Aurora Chamber Street Festival is a fun-filled family event for all ages with over 500 vendors, fantastic “Street Performers”, music, food galore and so much more. It is held annually the first Sunday in June in Aurora.

Barrie

Celebrate Barrie – The City of Barrie presents Celebrate Barrie, our 16th annual community celebration, on Saturday June 6th at Centennial Park. 35th Annual Greek Food Festival – Eat,Drink, Dance… OPA!Come be Greek for a day. We are celebrating our 35th annual Greek festival showcasing our Greek culture and cuisine. Admission is $2.00 at the door. Children under 12 are free. So are you with non perishable food item donations for our local food bank. There will be live entertainment, children area, dance performers. All takes place at our community center at 527 Bridgeport Road E. on June 6th & 7th

Milton

Street Festival – (Saturday) The Milton downtown core will be shut down so you can get down and have some fun with the family.  Starting at noon, the Street Festival will feature a wide variety of activities. Event patrons will experience street vendors, community groups, buskers, artisans, a “Kidz Zone” with family-friendly fun, and two stages of live entertainment, including demonstrations, comedy and music.

Morrisburg 

Medieval Festival @ Upper Canada Village – This weekend you can step even further back in time – to the Medieval period – as Upper Canada Village hosts its 8th Medieval Festival.  Bring the entire family to be entertained by jousting knights and continuous entertainment, enjoy demonstrations and throughout the day, children of all ages can try their hand at one of several games throughout the festival including Jacob’s Ladder, miniature ballista and catapult games, Frog Race, and more.

Muskoka Lakes

Comic Con – Niagara Falls Comic Con will be held once again at the Scotiabank Convention Centre over the course of 3 days: June 5,6 and 7, 2015. Blackburn Fun Fair – Blackburn Hamlet’s Annual Community fair established in 1971 is a few days of community events, a small midway, games, fun for kids as well as all day live music from noon to midnight on the Saturday including licensed beer garden.

Springtime in Paris – Enjoy this springtime festival which will include a soap box derby, entertainment, a craft show storytime in the park, children’s activites and so much more fun for the entire family!

Niagara Vegfest – An annual event that takes place in downtown St. Catharines, Ontario, and is part of the growing “VegFest” movement in North America. Mining Day – A free even for all ages showcasing the mining and mineral exploration industry. Come out and learn about local rocks and minerals, listen to one of the many talks regarding historical mining in Northwestern Ontario or visit one of the 30 exhibits related to mining, geology, heavy equipment, and environmental protection. Art in the Park – During the Art in the Park you will enjoy viewing over 275 artists and artisans from around Ontario, Quebec and the State of Michigan who have come to display and retail their wares. With the addition of our Friday night launch party AIP has moved a higher class of engaging art and entertainment. They can also learn about carding, spinning, weaving and knitting, all important steps in the transformation of a raw fleece into wool. Hopefully Mother Nature will stop toying with us and give us some Spring weather to enjoy this weekend!  To get you in the mood for Spring you can check out a Spring and Cottage show, some of the final Maple Syrup festivals around or an Earth day activity.   Whatever you do, have fun making memories with your family.

Earth Day

April 22nd was Earth Day so many towns across Ontario are sponsoring local clean up activities over the weekend.  Check your local newspaper or town’s website to see what you can do right in your town to clean up!

Teaching your kids to live eco-friendly on a day to day basis can be done by simply recycling your garbage at home, picking up trash at the park, making litter-less lunches for school or thinking of ways to conserve water and energy.

If you’re stuck for some ideas, check out Earth Day Canada for some great ways to go green.  Eco-Kids also has a great site to find games, activities  books and other ways to help our planet.

It is officially spring, and although there may still be traces of snow on the ground, spring means it’s Maple Syrup time in Ontario!  This weekend there are so many maple syrup themed events taking place.  You can also check out upcoming and ongoing events here.  Nothing says Canadian family fun like maple syrup eh?
