There are some great family movies in theatres right now so why not take the family for a night out at a local drive-in?!   You can also check out what’s playing onSaturday morning at Cineplex theatres for their Family Favourites.  At 11:00am you can watch a movie for only $2.99!

Barrie Fair – It’s that time of year again! This year the Barrie fair will be filled with many things to see and do, including a variety of livestock & home craft shows, vendors, truck & tractor pulls, demolition derbies, live entertainment, and the ever-popular midway. Not to mention over $100,000 in prize money! The Barrie Fair has always aimed to bring together families from across Ontario, and this year is no exception!

Blue Mountain

BARK in the park – BARK in the PARK Bowmanville is a family friendly event where family dogs are the focus. Busker Festival – Second Annual Niagara Falls Buskerfest This is a free, all ages, community event showcasing more than 50 performances from world class performers from around the globe, artisan and food vendors and much, much more, in support of arts programming for children and youth.

Watermelon Fest – The Straffordville Community hosts the annual Watermelon Fest at the Straffordville Community Park, 56169 Heritage Line.  A parade at 10:00am kicks off the day. A pancake breakfast at the fire hall, watermelon seed-spitting contest, midway rides, silent auction, food and craft vendors, music and entertainment, free face painting & children’s activities make for an affordable family outing enjoyed by young and old. Another Summer weekend means lots of great fun in the sun activities planned across Ontario.  You can attend a waterfront festival, go to an event all about celebrating your furry friends, attend an old fashioned fair, celebrate peaches or attend any other of the great events listed across Ontario.  Whatever your plans, have FUN! Of course there’s always the option to visit a local attraction like an amusement parkwater park or zoo.  Whatever you do, have fun making family memories!

Garlic Festival – Perth Garlic Festival is a celebration to the ‘stinking rose’. International Powerboat Show – This is an all-ages three (3) day outdoor festival with over 35,000 people in attendance. Victoria Day

Happy first long weekend of spring/summer 2015!!  It seems likes we have been waiting for forever for the nice weather to arrive so  hopefully the weather cooperates so we can all get out and have fun with our families.  This weekend there are many events taking place across Ontario including fireworks, festivals and spring celebrations.  You can always visit a local Amusement Park or Zoo as well for some family fun. Whatever you do, have fun and keep safe!

Sheep Shearing Festival @ The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum –  For the occasion, visitors will be able to learn all about wool by participating in various activities and demonstrations. Visitors of all ages can attend sheep shearing, sheep herding with sheepdogs and sheepdog agility demonstrations, as well as meet some alpacas. They can also learn about carding, spinning, weaving and knitting, all important steps in the transformation of a raw fleece into wool. Visitors will enjoy watching the traditional craft of finger-weaving and participating in a quiz about fibres. We certainly must not forget Little Bo Peep, who still needs help finding her sheep!

Hopefully Mother Nature will stop toying with us and give us some Spring weather to enjoy this weekend!  To get you in the mood for Spring you can check out a Spring and Cottage show, some of the final Maple Syrup festivals around or an Earth day activity.   Whatever you do, have fun making memories with your family.

Earth Day

April 22nd was Earth Day so many towns across Ontario are sponsoring local clean up activities over the weekend.  Check your local newspaper or town’s website to see what you can do right in your town to clean up!

Teaching your kids to live eco-friendly on a day to day basis can be done by simply recycling your garbage at home, picking up trash at the park, making litter-less lunches for school or thinking of ways to conserve water and energy.

If you’re stuck for some ideas, check out Earth Day Canada for some great ways to go green.  Eco-Kids also has a great site to find games, activities  books and other ways to help our planet.
