Watermelon Fest – The Straffordville Community hosts the annual Watermelon Fest at the Straffordville Community Park, 56169 Heritage Line.  A parade at 10:00am kicks off the day. A pancake breakfast at the fire hall, watermelon seed-spitting contest, midway rides, silent auction, food and craft vendors, music and entertainment, free face painting & children’s activities make for an affordable family outing enjoyed by young and old. International Powerboat Show – This is an all-ages three (3) day outdoor festival with over 35,000 people in attendance. Toronto International Boat Show – The Toronto International Boat Show is back for another year, with over 1200 boats on display. The event features the world’s largest indoor lake, and offers free boat rides in canoes, kayaks, paddleboats and inflatable boats. Spring Festival @ Chappell Farms (April 12-13 & 18, 19 & 20)- Fun for the whole family including a candy hunt every Hour, magic shows, wagon rides, animals, trike track, jumping castle and food!

Maple Syrup Festival – Saturday, April 12th, we start bright and early, with pancakes on the griddle from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm! Saturday we cater to families with a craft show and kid’s room. Sp’egg’tacular Easter Event – On Sunday, April 13th, 2014 the Easter bunny is visiting Ireland House at Oakridge Farm! Children can go on an exciting Easter egg hunt and meet the Easter bunny. The egg hunts will be held between 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. for ALL AGES. Chocolate goodie bags will be awarded for eggs turned in by children.  It will be a fun-filled afternoon of activities such as festive crafts, carnival style games, face painting, Kicks for Kids inflatables and karate demonstrations, vendors, a fantastic silent auction and children’s raffle, special prizes,  entertainment and more. Sweet Water Season @Crawford Lake Conservation Area –Visit Crawford Lake’s reconstructed Iroquoian Village and learn how maple syrup was discovered and used by Ontario’s First Peoples as you take in an interactive (and edible!) Sweet Water demonstration. Nostalgia is served warm and gooey in the afternoon as staff demonstrate how to make taffy on snow. Sample a variety of syrup grades to determine your maple syrup personality before you pick up a litre (or two!) to take home from the gift shop. Round out the experience with maple themed crafts and discovery hunts for kids.

Home & Garden Show – Spring is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to start imagining what your home and garden could be like this summer! Metroland Durham Region Media Group is hosting the Annual Clarington Home and Garden Show April 11th, 12th and 13th at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex. This year, the Home and Garden Show has grown again. Almost 100 vendors are participating in this year’s event showcasing their products and services, including landscaping, windows and doors, sunrooms, financial services, contractors, decorators decks, garage doors and a whole lot more! Windfest – Kites, kites and more kites.  Windfest is Toronto’s largest kite festival. From expert kite fliers, to kids flying their first kite, there is a space for everyone at WindFest. Kite flying is a fun, safe, creative and multi-cultural activity that anyone can enjoy! We’ll have workshops on how to make kites, and how to fly kites too!

Sweets & Treats Festival @ Sugar Beach – Taste some of Toronto’s best sweets, from the food trucks and vendors as well as other delectable treats. There will also be a beer and wine garden and buskers performing throughout the day. This all-ages event features tons of activities for the kids. To add to the excitement there will be a midway of rides and inflatables.

The Grapevine Festival – There will be various shows and programs for both kids and adults, some of the activities are: Unique foods that feature the flavours of the neighbourhood, wine and cheese tasting, live entertainment, children’s rides, activities and inflatables.
