Happy March!!  March means Maple Syrup Festivals are popping up across Ontario.  We have listed some for you to enjoy this weekend but watch for our complete listing coming soon!  Snow is on the ground so you can also enjoy  skiingsnowshoeingtobogganing or tubing as a family.

Moonlight Snowshoe Hike @ Crawford Lake Conservation Area – Discover the magic of winter at night, the snow illuminated by moonlight and the stars bright in the night sky. Our knowledgeable guides will lead you on a snowshoe hike through this beautiful landscape. Hikes take place every Saturday evening in January and February from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Each hike begins with basic instruction and some historical background on the sport of snowshoeing.

Season of the Snowsnake @ Crawford Lake Conservation Area – Explore the beautiful snowy landscape on a pair of snowshoes courtesy of Crawford’s rental program. Join staff for guided tours of the reconstructed Iroquoian Village at 11am1pm and 3pm.  Each tour will have a unique focus such as games, archaeology or storytelling.   Warm up after the tour with a complimentary cup of nature’s tea. Children can create a craft or enjoy a discovery hunt from 10am to 4pm.

Denbigh

Family Fun Day – There’s lots of fun to be had at “Denbigh Family Fun Day”. Festivities include outdoor games, tea boiling for everyone, races on the hill with sleds, bed races (5 on a team), maple syurp on the snow, open skating, crafts inside. Free lunch for all children that are registered. The canteen is open.

Dwight

Winter Carnival – This is a great event with lots of events for all ages! Enjoy a pancake breakfast, skating, face painting, numerous demonstrations, Horse drawn wagon rides, entertainers, carnival games and more!

Essex

The 18th annual Essex Train Show –  The largest train show in Southwestern Ontario. Two days of exhibits, vendors and interactive fun for the kids. The show is popular not only with hobbyists, but also entire families. Essex is located 30 minutes from the Ambassador Bridge. Take the first Essex exit on highway 3. Include a visit to the historic Michigan Central railway station just 2 minutes from the show!
Gravenhurst

Dog Sled Derby @ Pinestone Resort – If you have never watched a dogsled race before, it is definitely a sight to behold and hear! With the dogs lunging, howling and barking to get the races started, flying out of the start gate at speeds reaching 30km/hr and racing for the richest purse in Ontario, there is lots of action going on.

Niagara on the Lake

Days of Wine & Chocolate – Warm up your winter with this match made in heaven! Explore pairings of two of your favourite indulgences – wine and chocolate, as you tour the Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Ottawa

1st Annual Kids FurBall – Let your mini super-heroes have a night of fun, including dancing, movies and lots more, all while learning about the simple things they can do to help save Ottawa’s animals.  Kids will have the chance to make their own pizzas and sundaes, and after dessert we will be holding a dance, dress up optional, for your child to show off their fancy foot work!
