No need to worry about hearing “I’m bored” this weekend as there are SO many fun things to get out and do with your family.  Whether you want to get out and explore some heritage, fly a kite, catch a festival or sit back and enjoy some ribs, we’ve got you covered! Oh and can you believe it’s June already??

YMCA Healthy Kids day

Sunday June 2nd is YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day!  YMCA’s from across the country will be holding FREE events for families to engage in active play and learn healthier habits. For healthy, fun activities for the whole family and to find events happening near you, click here.


Doors Open Ontario – From April to October each year, communities open the doors to some of our most intriguing and charming heritage sites.  Admission is free! The Ontario Heritage Trust invites you to experience these hidden heritage treasures first-hand. Make your travel plans for Doors Open Ontario events in 2013 and explore the rich heritage that awaits you.

This weekend Doors Open Events are taking place in Northumberland, Ottawa, Owen Sound, Stratford, Whitchurch-Stouffville and Collingwood


The weather is going to be perfect this weekend to take the family to the drive-in!  Check out a drive-in near you this weekend!


Sit back and relax with a family movie at Cineplex Theatres.  Saturdays at 11:00am you can catch a Family Favourite movie for only $2.50

Celebrate Barrie – As the city marks its 160th anniversary be sure to join in the fun with hands on activities, inflatables, rides and games, snakes and reptiles, large interactive balls called BodyZorbs, a petting zoo, a rock climbing wall, two stages programmed with amazing local talent, Barrie Police, Barrie Fire and CFB Borden displays, and so much more! There’s something to entertain the kid in everyone.


Spring Fair – Bring your family out for some fun including the ever popular Demolition Derby, Truck and Tractor Pull, pie eating contest, spelling bee, pet show, competitions, entertainment, food and more!


Burlington Kite Festival @ Brant Hills Park (Sunday) – Build a kite or bring your own to help fill the sky with colour.  Kite flying demonstrations, entertainment, and vendors for free outdoor family fun!


Art Festival – Check out and enjoy art from local artists, have the kids take part in a workshop or enjoy the many children’s activities and at the end of the day take part in a fun DJ dance party!

Cambridge Riverfest Family Day (Saturday) – Get the family out and have some free family fun!  There will be a climbing wall, pony rides, entertainment, demonstrations and build your own bird house!


160th Anniversary Celebrations – Enjoy a summer’s day filled with heritage, activities, music and buskers – all for free.  A ‘heritage’ focus will accompany the celebrations and all in attendance will be able to walk freely on the closed streets.


Dance Festival – Be engaged and enthralled with dance works from the most innovative contemporary choreographers and dance artists in Canada. At various locations around Guelph.


Home & Cottage Show @ Haliburton Curling Club and the LaRue (Dysart) Arena and grounds – The 35th annual Haliburton Home and Cottage Show has over 150 exhibitors. Help for any home or cottage project. Talk to the Experts. Food and beverages are available at the Curling Club. Come out, enjoy the show and meet all the exhibitors in one location.


Carden Nature Festival – Back for a seventh year, the Carden Nature Festival is a smorgasbord of environmental delights set amidst a globally-rare landscape. With almost 100 field trips, workshops, and presentations, there’s something for every nature lover.


Rediscover your Bike – With the nice weather upon us children are loving zipping around on their bikes and having fun.  But are they being safe about it?  Attend this event to help your children learn about bike safety.


Gathering on the Green @ Wortley Village (Saturday only) -Bike checks, bike racks, car free promotion. Check out our Bikes Work! display of bikes & talk to local cycling experts.

12th Annual YMCA Children’s Safety Village Birthday Party (Sunday) – So much fun to be had this year including: Mini Parade, Magic show, Finger printing and picture taking, visits from Ronald McDonald & Sparky the fire dog, BBQ, Bicycle helmet exchange, face painting, miniature cars to drive and many safety displays to get you informed.


Street Festival – (Saturday) Starting with the Farmer’s Market in the morning, the Milton downtown core will be shut down so you can get down and have some fun with the family.  There will dancing in the street, food vendors, live entertainment, kids activities and so much more!

Niagara Falls

Fireworks over the Falls – Canada’s longest-running fireworks series is underway with fireworks every Friday, Sunday, and holiday until September 1, preceded by the popular Coca Cola Concert Series on the Victoria Park Stage. The best views are in Queen Victoria Park overlooking Niagara Falls.


Ottawa International Children’s Festival – Ottawa International Children’s Festival returns with another awe-inspiring season of performing arts for young people at Lebreton Flats Park and the Canadian War Museum.  The fun includes, but is certainly not limited to the Seven Feature Shows from Canada and around the world, Fun and Interactive activities(Clowns, Jugglers, Hoop Dancers, Stilt-Walkers, Comedians, Workshops), Impromptu Playground, Instrument Petting Zoo, Food and Beverage vendors, Picnic Zone and 100 Watt Earth Stage


Springtime in Paris – Enjoy this springtime festival which will include a soap box derby, entertainment, a craft show storytime in the park, children’s activites and so much more fun for the entire family!


6th Annual Rotary Ribfest – Get your fingers sticky as you dig in to some delish ribs from the ribfest contestants!  There will also be vendors and lots of entertainment.  Visit their website to save $3 on Friday only.  Admission is free and they ask that you kindly leave your pets at home!


The Great Canadian Cheese Festival – More than 100 exhibitors and vendors, about 125 different Canadian cheeses to sample and buy, and 3,000+ consumers make the event the biggest cheese show in Canada representing producers from coast to coast.

Port Carling

Muskoka Lifestyle Show – Muskoka’s Premier Home and Cottage Show! The Muskoka Lifestyle Show will showcase lifestyle, home and interior/exterior decorating products and services, outdoor fun and recreation, health and fitness, food and fashion, and everything else to enhance your Muskoka living.

Port Elgin

Huron Fringe Birding Festival – 15th annual festival takes its name from the migration corridor along the Bruce Peninsula. This Huron Fringe along the Lake Huron coastline offers birders, naturalists and photographers unique opportunities to discover nature in the early spring. At MacGregor Point Provincial Park, near Port Elgin.

St. Catherines

Niagara Vegfest – An annual event that takes place in downtown St. Catharines, Ontario, and is part of the growing “VegFest” movement in North America. It celebrates the many benefits of a healthy, compassionate, plant-based lifestyle, and showcases exhibitors, vendors, and speakers from the Niagara region and beyond.  The festival is jam-packed with speakers, vendors, exhibitors, and activities and we look forward to welcoming you to Niagara VegFest!


Bread & Honey Festival – This year we will be celebrating a Homecoming Theme– a place for old friends to reunite and make new ones. Don’t miss our talented line-up of live performers for children and adults, alike, a wide selection of carnival rides, games and hands-on educational demonstrations for the whole family… and of course, FREE Bread and Honey.


Celtic Festival – Enjoy a traditional medieval feast, watch highland dancers, cheer on at the Scottish heavy games and jousting or enjoy entertainment, cultural activities or children’s activities.  Kilt is optional!


Waterfront Blues – The tradition continues…The tradition of bringing the best in Blues to Waterfront Blues that is. For the 9th year we’re pleased to showcase something old, something new, and all definitely Blues at Metro Toronto’s only genuine Blues Festival. Not only will there be fabulous music, food and a kid’s zone but it is all FREE!!


Unionville Festival – Come play at the Unionville Festival this weekend!  Main Street Unionville will burst with energy and come alive with music, people, and unique shopping opportunities… more so than any other weekend of the year.


Waterloo Air Show –  If you love aviation, this is the show for you! Watch the dazzling spectacle above your head as planes rush by and dazzle the crowds.  Check out the Static Display, get up close to aircraft, talk to pilots, play kid-friendly activities and lock-in your spot on the viewing field.  This year they are introducing Food Truck Alley where at least a dozen gourmet food trucks will be serving a variety of fare from Britain, the Islands, Mexico, Alabama and Quebec!


Bicycle Rodeo @ Niagara Safety Village- For Ages 6-12 years old. Practice and develop skills on the rodeo course and get your bike and helmet checked. All participants must bring their own bike and helmet. Fee is $2.00 per child.


Art in the Park – During the Art in the Park you will enjoy viewing over 275 artists and artisans from around Ontario, Quebec and the State of Michigan who have come to display and retail their wares. With the addition of our Friday night launch party AIP has moved a higher class of engaging art and entertainment. Art in the Park is the only 360 degree family event in Essex County where the whole family can enjoy many elements or artisitc pleasures. We even have something for the kids.
