This weekend is all about family!  Being thankful for those we have in our lives, spending time with them and sharing some delicious eats.  There are lots of fun things to do this weekend to work off some of the turkey you eat but most importantly, time well spent with those you love!  Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families!

There are some great family movies in theatres right now so why not take the family for a night out at a local drive-in?!   You can also check out what’s playing onSaturday morning at Cineplex theatres for their Family Favourites.  At 11:00am you can watch a movie for only $2.99!

Richardson’s Farm & Market – Oodles of fun awaits you at the farm this fall.  Explore the 6 km of trail in our 7 acre corn maze, challenge yourself to figure out the  Jammed Tractor mini maze, cats cradle maze and pathway puzzle maze and play in the strawbale maze.  Lasso some toy horses, play in the corn box, enjoy a tractor ride, visit the animals and chuck some pumpkins at targets.  Of course before you leave, don’t forget to get a pumpkin!

Thanksgiving Market & Sidewalk Sale – Grand Bend’s Thanksgiving Market & Sidewalk Sale offers the bargain hunter a cornucopia of unique items.The Eilber Street parking lot plays host location to up to 30 craft and product vendors. The criteria for vendor participation includes the needs to have grown, raised or made the item themselves. Products range from vegetables, fruits and organic meats to roasted coffee beans, fresh-baked pies, muffins and baked treats to hand-crafted quilts, jewellery, clothing and home decor.

Strom’s Farm – Have some fun times at Strom’s Farm in their Harvest Fun area including; Jumpin Jack Tile Maze, Rope Maze, Straw Maze, Pumpkin Chuckin, Wagon Rides, 6 acre Corn Maze (4 miles of paths), Sand Pit, Pedal Carts ,Cedar Spiral and a Pumpkin of a Show Puppet Show.

Scarecrow Invasion – The “Invasion of Scarecrows” begins in mid September through to mid October. More than 250 scarecrows will be found in the downtown area alone – dangling sassily from downtown lamp posts, hiding in bushes and trees, lounging happily on benches, peeking out from behind cornstalks and resting comfortably on porches and verandahs. They frolic everywhere! The main street (Sykes St.), and harbour area, are particularly alive with scarecrows during this time.

Midland

Thanksgiving Harvest Festival and Arts and Crafts Show and Sale at Sainte-Marie Among the Hurons.  Sainte-Marie’s Thanksgiving Harvest Festival and Arts and Crafts Show and Sale is a fun family event, with lots of on-site activities and over 40 outstanding artisans and crafters.The event is a regional favourite and typically includes both new and returning artisans.

Morrisburg

Pumpkin Inferno – Weekends through October. Come and stroll through a hauntingly beautiful and spellbinding outdoor exhibit of now close to 6,000 hand-carved pumpkins, set against a stirring night-time backdrop just inside the gates of historic Upper Canada Village. Marvel at this eclectic display of scenes from exotic places and historic ages, meet up with forest animals and sea-born creatures, see story book heroes, mythical characters, cultural icons and more …. all carved from pumpkins!

Norfolk

Norfolk Country Fair and Horse Show – The Norfolk County Fair & Horse Show is in its 173rd year, and is the fifth largest fair in Ontario, with over 100,000 visitors each year. This fair features agricultural displays, craft exhibits, food vendors, art demonstrations, talent competitions, midway rides, free grandstand entertainment, and many added special attractions.

Ottawa

Celebrate the Harvest  at the Canada Agriculture Museum.  To celebrate the harvest, join us at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, where you will see farm machinery, such as a baler and a model of a grain elevator, in action! Test your knowledge on Canadian food crops, such as apples, corn and pumpkins, by taking part in various challenges and talking to local producers. Learn how simple and easy it is to preserve food with one of the guides in the demonstration kitchen. Great Lakes Farm – The apple barn is open daily for already picked apples, fresh apple cider, our famous apple pies and other apple-based sweets, treats and delicacies fresh from our bakery. You can also. Pick your own apples, pears and pumpkins, explore our corn maze and straw mountain or take a ride around our orchard with a Tractor ride.

Rockton

Rockton’s World Fair – Thanksgiving Weekend is a time of family and friends. It is also a time for country fellowship.  Rockton World’s Fair is the best place to experience this warm, country atmosphere.  Fun includes: Midway, Derby,  vendors, Poultry, Pigeon & Rabbit Show, Rural & Urban Competitions, Craft Show and Sale, Helicopter Rides, Home Craft Displays, School Fair and Junior Displays, Photography Display, Fire Safety House, Little Ray’s Reptiles and the list goes on and on!

Toronto Zoo Celebrates Fall – Keeper talks, pumpkins and animals oh my! Check out Zoo animals receiving festive pumpkins throughout the day.  Crisp fall air, vibrant colours and fun for all ages; the Toronto Zoo is the place to be this Thanksgiving Weekend! We are celebrating the changing of the season with interactive and themed activities, educational programs, tours, keeper talks and enrichment programs with the animals and Fall Foliage Tours. Camp Spooky @ Canada’s Wonderland – Enjoy a boo-rific Halloween event just for families this fall at Camp Spooky!  Canada’s Wonderland is not all scary in the fall. Our Camp Spooky events on Saturdays and Sundays in October and on November 1st from 10:00AM to 5:00PM are geared towards children and families. Your favourite rides are also open during the day, including attractions in Planet Snoopy and KidZville!  Camp Spooky is included with Park admission!
